Photography was something I never expected to do until I picked up a DSLR for the first time, and I absolutely love it. I love capturing moments. I've always been able to make people feel comfortable and have them open themselves up to me. It's because I open myself to them first. When you have the ability, as a photographer, to do that you will get incredible shots and I think that is my best attribute as a journalist. In today's media landscape, reporters are starting to become their own cameramen. Being a still photographer has tremendously helped me with my shot composition thus making for stronger b-roll footage in my packages. Regardless of where life takes me in my career, I will always be shooting photos whether it's in a freelance capacity or just taking photos for my family.
